The High Line is a public park in the West Village owned by the City of New York and maintained by a non-profit organization staffed by volunteers. It is constructed on the roadbed of an elevated rail line which was donated to the City when it was no longer of use to the railroad. It is about one mile in length, and there are plans to extended it for another quarter mile. On this sunny day, a large crowd enjoyed the views of the Hudson and lower Manhattan and the plantings running the entire length of the Park.
