Scantic Spring Splash 03-30-13

This annual event takes place on the Scantic River, starting at the fire-ravaged Somersville Mill, and finishing at South Maple Street in Hazardville, Connecticut, at the site of the old Hazardville Powderworks Co. factory. Over 100 canoests and kayakers participated in running the five mile course. Pictured are successive successful and unsuccessful attempts by enthuiasts to go over "The Chimney", one of the more challanging white water passages.
