This year marked the 144th Union, Maine Fair, according to their website. It is historically and currently a typical agricultural fair with many exhibits for showing and competing. On this date, visitors had the opportunity to view the oxen draw, belted cattle showing and various farm animals on display. In addition, many exhibits displayed handcrafted items and food preparations. Of particular interest was the Maine Historical Museum which houses older farming implements, hand tools and home textile-making implements. The tradition of country fair harness racing throughout the State is preserved in Union and in several other towns. Photos of harness racing here are displayed in a separate folder under standardbred racing.
